How can we help?
Yes, the National Credit Union Administration, a federal agency, insures individual accounts up to $250,000. For joint accounts, each joint account holder has $250,000 coverage for their aggregate interests at each federally insured credit union.
For example, a two person joint account with no beneficiaries has $500,000 in coverage. This coverage is separate from and in addition to the coverage available for other accounts such as individual accounts with no beneficiaries and retirement accounts. Learn more at ncua.gov/consumers

Important Information About Opening a New Account:
Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.
This means that when you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, telephone number, date of birth, Social Security number, and your MWRDGC employee identification card to allow us to identify you. We may also ask for your driver's license (or government issued identification showing residence and bearing a photograph and signature).
At MWRD ECU you're not just a customer -- you're a member and you own shares. You and your fellow members own the place -- we answer to you.
We offer nearly all the same services as a bank, plus special perks. As a not-for-profit institution, any profits are returned to members in the form of lower loan rates, higher savings yields and fewer/lower fees.
At our annual meeting, a volunteer Board of Directors is elected by and from the membership, so they represent the members’ best interest in Credit Union policies. And unlike for-profit banks, where stockholders vote according to the number of shares of stock they own, credit union elections are based on a one-member, one-vote structure.
